Phillip Kotze School of Singing
South Africa - Garsfontein, Pretoria
The Phillip Kotze School of Singing offers offers excellent vocal coaching to aspiring young stars. Based on the latest techniques, our tuition is further strengthened by three manuals of the theory of singing, a Primary Phase, Secondary Phase and Final Phase.
We believe in creating opportunities for young singers, and is therefore also linked to a production house, Bugle Productions.
What type of Musician are you?
I started off as a classical singer, having studied at the South African School of Music (University of Cape Town)and furthered my studies in Vienna, Austria.
I joined the light music industry in 1985, and have recorded several CDs with my wife as Duo, and is also the founder member of South Africas own Three Tenors.
Who inspired you to perform?
People like Mario Lanza, Tony Bennett and Neil Diamond inspired me as a youngster. Lately, Barbara Streisand and Michael Bublé has been very inspirational. Stars like Celine Dion, Pink, and the group Fun, has kept me going, showing off their brilliant vocal technique!
Do you write all your own music?
Not all of them, I also do covers, because they are so much in demand. Own compositions has to prove themselves to be popular before performed on stage. Therefore, combining your own songs with more recent hit songs, proves to be a winning combination.
Have you ever recorded an album?
I have recorded several solo albums, having started my career in 1982. I have since appeared on many compulation CDs with other artists, and also as a duo with my wife,Ella. Since the introduction of South Africas own Three Tenors in 1997, we have recorded three albums.
