Care givers are needed on a daily basis as people get sick, need short-term care, suffer from disabilities or need frail care when least expected. It is a natural need to want being cared for in your own home. This demand will never stop and is on the increase.
Any advice for somebody wanting to study?
Prospective care giver candidates must be between the ages of 18 - 60 years, any race, gender or culture. Enqabile training combines their training with Christian principles, ethics and values. Qualified care givers might need to work day and night duty, sleep in and be on duty during public holidays and weekends.
Do you need a degree in your field?
Caring for others is not a job, but a calling and therefore a person will have an unsettling passion and conviction to want to study in this field. Training will take place in English, therefore the person must be able to speak, write and understand English quite well.
Is this recognized worldwide or locally, if so with who?
The training is a skills program for which a person will receive a certificate that is recognised within the borders of South Africa. The dedicated SETA is the body that regulates the standard and quality of care giver training. Training will be done according to their standards and requirements.

The training focusses on the following unit standards: HIV/AIDS, TB/DOTS, Primary health care, Perform basic life support and provide care to a frail person. The qualified trainees will be assisted to care for any person in need of care according to their level.
