What are Non Profit organizations?
No-profits are created to provide support and services to individuals who need assistance. A non-profit is not designed to make profit on the services it provides. As a non-profit you are to serve the community Selflessly without expecting anything in return. You do and give from your heart and satisfaction comes from making a positive impact on the lives you change.
What is your primary goal?
Our goal is change the lives of our disabled troops and veterans who are struggling financially by taking a holistic approach to resolving the root cause of the problem so they will be able to sustain themselves.
How did your organization start and grow?
Our Forgotten Warriors was founded by a 19 year old how suffered a Hemorrhagic stroke while on active duty. He made a promise to form an orginization that would help service members and veterans navigate the extremely complex VA system to attain benefits. He stood my that commitment and with a team of Volunteers has helped over 300 service members and veterans at risk of being homeless.
Do you belong to any associations, if so what?
Yes. To help us raise community awareness about the significant issues our disabled troops and veterans are facing, Our Forgotten Warriors found it beneficial to become a member of two associations with strong military affiliation. Due to being located in a state with a extremely high veteran and military population it was wise to select membership at the Lacey Chamber of Commerce and the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce.
How should people get involved?
Our Forgotten is always seeking volunteers to raise community awareness about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Brain injuries. However our greatest needs are dedicated volunteers for our planning committee, volunteer for events, webmaster, bookkeeper, administrative services, fundraise on behalf of OFW and solicit for donations.
